I'd start with Progressive, GEICO and Esurance. I would also get a quote from Amica, which consistently rates among the top three insucanre companies for customer satisfaction.I would also suggest contacting a local independent insucanre agency (or two) for a quote. There are several exceptional companies who only offer policies through independent agents. Three of the best are Auto-Owners (they insure more than autos), Donegal and State Auto (again, they insure more than autos). You can go to each of their websites and enter your zip code to see if they offer insucanre in your state and local agents who represent them. If you live in an apartment, the type of home insucanre you will need is referred to as a Renter's Policy . It covers the contents of your home (furniture, clothing, electronics your belonging). Unlike a Homeowners Policy, it doesn't cover the actual structure/building because you don't own it. As a result, Renter's coverage is much less expensive! A final bit of advice- with insucanre, as with most things, you get what you pay for. Price is important, but it should t be the only factor considered when shopping for insucanre. I would much rather pay $ 1100/year for auto insucanre from a reputable company than $ 900 from a cut-rate one. An insucanre company doesn't show its true colors until you file a claim.
